Where it all began
Gervasio’s Family Restaurant was originally established in 1969 by Tony Gervasio, and was located at 1644 Whitehorse Mercerville Road in Hamilton, NJ. Tony Gervasio was a first-generation Italian American raised in Chambersburg as one of 13 siblings. He began working at a very young age and was taught the art of the Trenton Tomato Pie by Guiseppe “Joe” Papa of Papa’s Tomato Pies. Tony then opened his first restaurant in 1956, and later established Gervasio’s Family Restaurant with his wife Marie in 1969. Tony and his brother Ralph successfully ran Gervasio’s thanks to dedicated family, loyal friends, and a supportive community until it closed in 2004. Tony always made each customer feel like family and took pride in uniting the community through classic family recipes and Italian traditions.

Keeping the Tradition
Head Chef/Owner
Mark Mazzone, the grandson of Tony Gervasio, grew up in Hamilton, NJ, and spent a majority of his childhood at Gervasio’s. Mark saw firsthand the pride, hard work, and dedication his grandfather put into his restaurant. Most of his favorite memories involved folding pizza boxes after school, rolling dough, and even washing dishes at 10 years old. His grandfather taught him to make pies at 15, which ignited his passion for food. Since then, Mark has continued his career at many restaurants in the tri-state area, most notably with Wolfgang Puck and Di Bruno Bros. These experiences have culminated in Mark achieving a lifelong dream of preserving the Gervasio’s legacy in Chesterfield, NJ, where he will carry on long-standing traditions and recipes that welcome you back to the Gervasio’s family.
Mark’s dedication to his craft while remaining true to the quality and simplicity from Tony’s recipes allows for a truly unique experience, where he can serve the best Italian dishes to the community while honoring those who came before him. Mark and his wife Amber are excited to serve you the Gervasio’s classics and are humbled to honor the tradition that the Gervasio family has instilled in generations.
